It’s the ‘Entertainment Capital of the
World’, a city where time is of no
significance, where the shows, bars,
restaurants, and most importantly the
gaming tables, never sleep. The 4-mile
stretch of the Las Vegas Boulevard
dubbed the Strip is lined with the
most extravagant and ostentatious
casinos and hotels anywhere in the
world where high rollers rub shoulders
with the average Joe, all hoping to
strike it rich.
While gambling is obviously an integral
part of the Vegas experience, there is
much more to America’s fastest-growing
city – fantastic entertainment, live shows
and outstanding restaurants certainly
attract those who don’t fancy a flutter,
while around the town’s fringes are some
amazing golf courses. As you might
expect from Vegas, the courses are not
exactly orthodox – some are as wacky as
the casinos on the Strip, but there are
some serious championship tracks that
will make for a fabulous golf holiday.
You could visit Vegas in a sensible
manner and opt for a hotel away from
the action where the pace is slow and
the surroundings serene… or you could
immerse yourself in this man-made
wonderland at one of the leading casino
resorts on the Strip itself. Of all the
famous names, the MGM Grand and
the Bellagio stand head and shoulders
above the rest; whether it’s the Bellagio
fountains in the final scene in Ocean’s
Eleven or one of the great heavyweight
title fights staged at MGM, these two
are icons that will give you the ultimate
experience.
The hallmarks of contentment and
opulence are what inspire the Bellagio,
a Five Diamond AAA resort where no
expense is spared in creating an
environment of utter luxury, from the
65,000
square foot spa to fine dining and
extraordinary Cirque du Soleil shows. At
the MGM Grand, which towers above
the Strip, the gaming is immense and the
entertainment equally so. Dining ranges
from Joel Robuchon to fabulous steak
and the accommodation is perfectly
suited for travelling golfers.
Golf to your heart’s content in the city that never sleeps...
Bright lights, heady entertainment and
superb value for money are on offer if
you choose Circus Circus as your base.
At the centrally located hotel you can
expect easy access to the major casinos,
while the resort also boasts the world’s
largest indoor theme park!
As with everything in Vegas, the golf is
bigger, bolder and more fun. Its courses
eschew tradition and place an emphasis
on entertainment, with amazing variety
on offer. Premium courses carry hefty
green fee tags but the likes of Wynn Golf
Club, Bali Hai and Cascata are serious
championship propositions operated like
the most upscale of country clubs.
But it is possible to play great courses
without breaking the bank; consider
Silverstone, Las Vegas Paiute and Arroyo
for a phenomenal desert golf experience
within easy driving distance of the heart
of the city. Golf is perhaps the most
upstanding of pursuits in what is known
as Sin City, but that’s what makes Vegas
so special – it’s whatever you want to
make it and much, much more…
