Golf
Guests of the splendid Elba Costa
Ballena Hotel can make use of the
golfing facilities at neighbouring Golf
Costa Ballena. The 27 holes here are
laid out in three nines, with each nine
quite different and distinctive, and the
second nine, close to the sea, having a
strong flavour of links golf.
Designed by Jose María Olazabal, it
has become a regular choice for top na-
tional and international amateur events,
in addition to being selected to host a
European Tour qualifying event.
The championship course is comprised
from the 27 holes conceived by Olaza-
bal, and at its full length will measure
6,601
yards. Some holes run alongside
the spectacular Atlantic coastline, while
further inland the course traverses
the lush parkland, and the interesting
variation makes Costa Ballena a very
satisfying round.
